Legacy Assurance reaches out to Brown family

Jennifer and Wayne Brown of Donalsonville passed away June 12 in a car accident as they drove to Washington, D.C. Their 17-year-old son survived.

Robert Shiver, vice president of Senior Life Insurance Company in Thomasville, heard about the accident and as the father of two young sons, was moved by story. He reached out to Legacy Assurance, a company he partners with, and asked if they could donate two caskets for the Brown family. He wanted to help and knew the savings would relieve a burden for surviving son and family members.

Catherine Conner, manager of Legacy Assurance in Thomasville, reached out to the family, William Brown, brother of Wayne, and Mr. Morris, father of Jennifer. They accepted the donation and Legacy Assurance immediately shipped the two caskets to the Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville.

The Legacy Assurance team feels a great sense of compassion for families suffering due to the death of a loved one. They work with bereaved families every day by providing discounted funeral products, and advocating for families to help them lower funeral costs, company officials said.

“We feel so grateful we were in a position to help the Brown family,” said Conner. “Our job is unique and we work hard to ease the suffering of these families. It becomes personal, we get involved.”
