MOODY AIR FORCE BASE — The 347th Rescue Group from Moody AFB has sent aircraft and people to Texas to help with the relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey.

Pave Hawk helicopters from the 41st Rescue Squadron, part of the 347th, is working out of Easterwood Airport in College Station, Texas, flying sorties for relief efforts. A group of two Pave Hawks were credited with 11 saves on the first mission, according to Moody’s website.

Since moving ashore Friday, Hurricane Harvey has dumped more than 50 inches of rain in portions of Texas, causing record flooding and costing at least 24 lives. The storm moved back into the Gulf of Mexico briefly and came ashore again in Louisiana, threatening more flooding.
