It is that time again. The Literacy Fair is here Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Join us for fun, food and free books. Sponsored by the Thomas County Literate Community Program and Thomas County Family Connections.

In recognition of the 100th anniversary of America’s entry into World War I, the Thomas County Public Library System and the Thomas County Historical Society will be hosting “Remembering World War I.” an event to bring knowledge and appreciation to this piece of U.S. history. The library will be displaying WWI memorabilia from Nov. 1-17, provided by Don Sims, in our Flipper Room.

The Thomasville Entertainment Foundation will be presenting The Ronan Cowan Quartet for November’s edition of Enlightenment Bites. Join us in our Flipper Room on Friday at noon for a short concert featuring Evan Hamrick, Mason Marut, Jordan Kirkendoll and Ronan Cowan.

On Monday Nov. 6, as part of our “Remembering World War I” event and in partnership with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the library will be screening the 1936 film The Road to Glory at 6 p.m. in the Flipper Room.

Stop in on Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. for a standout lecture entitled: The Influence of German Geography and the United States Involvement in World War I given by Professor Gale Whitehurst of Thomas University. This program is supported by Georgia Humanities and in partnership with the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

Join us for an hour of calm and relaxation at the Adult Coloring Club meeting on Friday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.

“We’re Bookin’ It” Book Club will be back and meeting at the library on Monday, Nov. 13, at 5 p.m.. Visitors and new members are always welcome. This month’s choice will be “Rosemary” by Kate Clifford Larson.

‘Food for Fines’ is back this fall season. Starting Nov. 1 through Dec. 29, all Thomas County Public Library branches will be accepting food in exchange for your fines. For every dollar in fines, bring in a canned or non-perishable item in exchange for library fines. All food-stuffs are to benefit the Thomas County Food Bank, Halcyon House, Rescue Mission Conquest Center and the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society.

Want to get a jump start on your holiday gifting? Donate a brick to a loved one or cherished friend to honor them for lifetimes to come. Ask at the front desk for more information and order forms.
