PEO Sisterhood awards grant to Perry

Summer Perry is attending Georgia Southwestern State University to obtain her specialist degree in early childhood education. She was awarded a $3,000 Program for Continuing Education grant from the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was sponsored by Chapter BJ, Thomasville.

The P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education was established in 1973 to provide need-based grants to women in the United States and Canada, whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to support themselves, and/or their families. The maximum one-time grant amount is $3,000 and is based on financial need.

The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded January 21, 1869, at Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is a philanthropic educational organization, interested in bringing increased opportunity for higher education to women. There are approximately 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada, with nearly a quarter of a million active members. On Jan. 21st they will celebrate the 150th anniversary of their founding. Additional information about the P.E.O. may be found online at https://www.peointernational.org
