THOMASVILLE — Ben Rawlings struck out the potential winning run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth innings, and the Thomasville  Bulldogs completed their first-round sweep of Oglethorpe County with a 4-2 win.

The Bulldogs, batting first in the second game, had two batters hit by pitches with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth. In all, Oglethorpe pitchers hit four straight Bulldogs, all with two outs, in the inning.

The Patriots put runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the frame but Rawlings struck out the final two batters to preserve the win and put Thomasville into the next round.

Gabe Duncan went the first seven innings, striking out 13 while giving up two earned runs on five hits and three walks.

Anderson Everett was 2-for-4 with a double as the Bulldogs were limited to five hits.

The Bulldogs won the first game 9-0 as three Thomasville pitchers allowed just two hits. Jacob Jordan fanned 12 and gave up one hit in five innings. Everett and Jadon Lirette each pitched a scoreless inning.

Jordan was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs at the plate, as the Bulldogs collected 12 hits, four for extra bases. Everett, Isaac Richardson and Witt Wetherington each went 2-for-4, and Everett, Duncan and Jack Thompson each had a double.

Thomasville will host Dodge County, which swept Bacon County in its first-round series.
