Mims Kids hosts annual egg hunt for special needs kids
TIFTON — Mims Kids Inc. hosted an Easter egg hunt for K-5 special needs students Thursdays at Annie Belle Clark Primary School.
M. Jay Hall with Mims Kids said that the hunt is designed to allow kids who normally would have a difficult time attending and participating in egg hunts a chance to hunt eggs.
“Sometimes people don’t think about it,” he said. “Special needs kids can’t move about sometimes like any other kids. This is really dedicated to them. Everyone goes home with something.”
This is the fifth year Mims Kids has put on the Easter egg hunt.
“We’re really pleased and thankful the Tift County school system allows us to partner with them and Ms. Morrow for allowing us to host it at Annie Belle Clark,” said Hall.
Principal Stephanie Morrow said that the egg hunt is a “memorable event for our boys and girls, not just here at Annie Belle but system wide.”
Hall also said he was pleased to see higher parental attendance this year.
“It’s really exciting,” he said. “You have a full heart seeing these kids able to hunt eggs and get prizes and seeing the smiles on their faces.”
Plastic eggs containing candy were scattered around the playground along with larger eggs which won a larger prize.
Each participant was given a goodie bag after the hunt, and had a chance to visit with the Easter Bunny as well.
Mims Kids partnered with the Tift County Board of Education and the special education department, headed by Leigh Watson.
