Brown to receive additional medals
Sgt. Eddie Brown, a highly decorated Vietnam combat veteran , has been notified by the Department Of The Army Review Board in Arlington, Virginia, that he is being awarded three additional service medals. The Review Board awarded Sgt. Brown the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal, Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars.
Sgt. Brown is the recipient of two Bronze Star medals, Army Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal.
Sgt. Brown in 1969 served as a squad Leader with the 1st Infantry (Big Red 1) Division at Lai Khe, South Vietnam. In 1970, Sgt. Brown served as a tank commander with the 1/77 Armor Battalion, 1st Brigade 5th Infantry Division at Quang Tri, South Vietnam.
Sgt. Brown is a 1967 graduate of Douglass High School, 1968 graduate of Thomas Tech, graduate of Fort Monmouth, New Jersey Signal School (Ground Surveillance Radar Repair), graduate of the Army NCOCS (Non Commission Officer Candidate School), 1975 graduate of Fort Valley State College (Fort Valley State University), with a BS in Electronics Engineering and holds a FCC (Federal Communication Commission) General Class Radiotelephone License.
Sgt. Brown retired in 2013 from Miller Brewing Company, management staff, after 32 years of service. Brown is a past lieutenant with the Thomas County Sheriff’s Posse, past President of the Thomasville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Active, Life Member of Allen – Cook VFW (Veterans Of Foreign Wars) Post 4995, Thomasville Georgia. Life Member of the VFW National Home for Children.
Sgt. Brown is the father of Eddie Jr., Ashley (Brooks) and Tyree Brown. Sgt. Brown. currently serves as one of three Thomas County Tax Assessors.
