Moultrie Federated Guild plans annual antique show
MOULTRIE, Ga. — Plans are shaping up for the Moultrie Federated Guild 61st Annual Antique Show to be held on March 16, 17 and 18 at Southern Regional Technical College on Veterans Parkway.
“The Federated Guild supports our community with our many projects that we volunteer our time to physically help and/or donate funds,” said Mary Vines, antique show chairman. “We earn these funds by our once a year project, our Antique Show. All members work many hours for an event that brings in many dealers from all over the South and visitors from around Georgia.”
The show will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m., and on Sunday at 11 a.m. Tickets can be purchased from any guild member or from Sid’s Antiques and Gifts for $5 or at the show for $7.
Lunches will be available each day, along with homemade layer cakes, and there will be an Italian Night Dinner 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Tickets for the dinner are available by calling Jackie Mise at 229-890-6338 or at Mashburn Printing. “Soul Food Sunday” lunch will be catered by Chef V starting at 11 a.m. These tickets are available by calling Vanessa Hayes at 229-337-7248 or by email at chefv_personaltouch@hotmail.com. Reservations are required for the Sunday lunch.
Special events this year will include:
• Friday: At 11 a.m, Alexander Safdari will give an oriental rug presentation, and at 2 p.m., Teresa Thomas will give a “Fairy Garden” demonstration.
• Saturday: At 11 a.m., Carol Selph, South Georgia director of the American Camellia Society, will present, “Not Your Grandmother’s Camellias.”
Crystal restoration artist, Ken Robertson of Baron’s Restorations, will be returning to the show this year. With 42 years of experience in his family’s business, he restores family treasures to pristine condition including Lalique, Steuben, Waterford and Lladro pieces. Other restoration services offered by the business include porcelain, paintings and chandelier rewiring, installation and cleaning.
“Please spread the word to your friends that he will be here, so that they can start collecting items that they want to get repaired,” said Lesa Moser, dealer coordinator.
Several vendors will be returning to the antique show this year, both local and out-of-state. Local vendors include Hall’s Nursery, Bob Howell, Sid’s Antiques & Gifts, Udderly Delightful and the Arts Center Collective of Moultrie, which first made its appearance at last year’s show.
Sylvia Rowell with “Windsor House Antiques” of South Carolina will show items like crystal, silver and collectibles and Pete Clapp of “A Silver Chest” of Florida will show fine silver pieces. More dealers returning this year include Legacy Rugs, Coleman’s Collectibles, Antiques by Wanda, P & S Antiques and The Gliding Goat.
In addition to the show, gift drawings will be held on Sunday afternoon. Participants do not have to be present to win. The raffle tickets are $5 each for a chance to win one of the following gifts: a live interview with Wayne Grandy, in the press box, on the WMTM Tailgate Program during a 2018 football game; a $325 restaurant package; a $500 Turner’s Dress Shop gift certificate; a $200 Cranford’s Jewelers gift certificate; a wool rug from Pakistan; a Randy Gibbs painting; a mounted Blue Gill fish; a $225 boutique package; or a full day fishing package at Mexico Beach for four people. These tickets can be purchased from any guild member or by calling Barbara Godwin at 229-873-4898.
The antique show is Moultrie Federated Guild’s only fundraiser and benefits the community through various projects and programs. Without the support from community leaders and sponsors, the show would not be possible, Vines said.
