Morning bust nets drugs, loaded firearm

THOMASVILLE — A second search warrant executed at a Stevens Street residence netted far more than the first.

Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division agents arrived at 1235 North Stevens — the home of Timothy Jerome Phillips — early on a recent morning.

Agents found 104 ecstasy pills, 33 bags of powder cocaine packaged for sale and a small bag of marijuana. In the bag with the drugs, agents found a loaded 9mm pistol, said Keith Newman, narcotics/vice assistant commander.

“We actually served a search warrant there within the last year,” Newman said.

Newman said “numerous sources” told narcotics/vice Phillips was selling dope at his residence.

“He’s a higher-level street dealer,” Newman said, adding that Phillips’ arrest will make a small impact on drug-dealing in the community. “It was a chess piece moved off the board.”

Phillips, 39, is charged with cocaine possession with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and misdemeanor marijuana possession.

A charge of misdemeanor marijuana possession of marijuana was made on people at the residence.
