Big field to participate in Blue Devil Invitational

TIFTON — A full field of golf teams will be headed to Tift County Monday for the annual C.D. Moore Blue Devil Invitational at Spring Hill Country Club.

Tift head golf coach Marc Beach said 16 boys teams from 14 schools will be in the fold.

Tift and Lowndes will supply two teams each, he said. Others are coming from Coffee, Colquitt County, Lee County, Valdosta, Harris County, First Presbyterian Day, Smiths Station (Ala.), Early County, Ware County, Worth County and Houston County.

Tee times begin a 1 p.m. and will be staggered at eight-minute intervals through 2:52 p.m.

The Blue Devils have matched up against many of the schools that are to play here, including the Packer Invitational at Moultrie last week and the Dynamite Goodloe tourney held in Valdosta Monday.

Beach said his group of golfers has been improving, shooting as low as 318 as a team twice.

“Tate Greer’s leading us,” he said. “Ryan Moore’s been playing pretty constant.”

Jacob Beach and Wilkes Webb have also been solid. There are 13 on the roster, more than enough depth for Tift to field two teams Monday.
