Feds bust another drug ring: 23 people indicted
MOULTRIE, Ga. — The May arrests of six suspects and seizure of more than four pounds of methamphetamine and cocaine was part of a larger investigation that has yielded 17 additional federal indictments.
On Monday prosecutors announced additional indictments of 16 Colquitt County residents and a Florida man that were returned on July 11. Those indictments previously were sealed, according to U.S. Attorney Charles E. Peeler’s office in Macon.
“We picked up 11 suspects Thursday,” said Lt. Steve Exum, commander of the Moultrie-Colquitt County Drug Enforcement Team.
All of the suspects immediately were placed in federal custody in Albany, he said.
“This is a whole indictment,” Exum said, distinguishing it from a previous indictment of members of a meth ring that netted some 42 arrests, mostly in Colquitt County, and a number of guilty pleas already.
In the new indictment 16 Moultrie residents were charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, more than 500 grams of cocaine, more than 28 grams of cocaine, and marijuana. They are:
• Ricardo Bodiford, also known as Rico, 32.
• David Spradley, also known as “ManMan,” 35.
• Eric Townsend, 29.
• Johntavious Johnson, also known as Mikey, 32.
• Stacy McLellan, 50.
• Brenton Miller, 31.
• Regina Miller, 35.
• Kristen Dismuke, 30.
• Torranza McNeal, also known as “Cheese” and “Meke,” 38.
• Eric Lamar, 35.
• Trabian Jones, 41.
• Ramon White, 35.
• James Fielder, 34.
• Jarvis West, 31.
• Tony Stamper, also known as “Buggie,” 29.
• Bryant Pittman, also known as “John Gotti,” 35.
Also indicted on that charge was Josh Whaley, 37, of Tallahassee.
Conviction on that charge carries a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence in federal prison up to a maximum life prison sentence.
Charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, which carries a minimum of 10 years in prison up to life, were:
• Gabino Tobias, 44, and Maria Del Carmen Salazar-Mirales, both 44, of Fairburn.
• Alejandro Bustamante, 30.
• Gricelda Bustamante Gutierrez, 36, and Ricardo Hernandez Gutierrez, 31, both of Norman Park.
Charged with distribution of more than five grams of methamphetamine, which carries a minimum of five years in prison up to life, were Bodiford, Johnson, West, Spradley and Townsend.
Spradley also is charged with possession of more than 500 grams of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He faces a mandatory minimum five years in federal prison up to life if convicted for both.
Gricelda Bustamante Gutierrez and Ricardo Gutierrez also are charged with possession of more than 50 grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, aiding and abetting possession of a firearm by an illegal alien, and aiding and abetting possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Conviction on all charges carries a mandatory minimum of 15 years to life in prison.
Tobias and Salazar-Mirales also are charged with possession of more than 50 grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm by an illegal alien.
If convicted on all charges they face a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years up to life in prison.
Bodiford also is charged with distribution of more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, maintaining a drug involved premises and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Conviction on all charges carries a mandatory minimum of 10 years up to life in prison.
Townsend also is charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Conviction on all charges carries a mandatory minimum five years up to life in prison.
Brad Tuff, 38, Norman Park, is charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana, which carries a maximum five-year prison sentence.
Gricelda Bustamante Gutierrez, Ricardo Gutierrez, Salazar-Mirales, Tobias, Spradley and Townsend were all arrested on May 7 in Colquitt County.
While making the arrest of those six officers seized more than two pounds each of cocaine and methamphetamine, 15 pounds of marijuana, more than $30,000 in cash and a number of handguns and assault rifles, Exum said. The Drug Enforcement Team, made up of officers from the Moultrie Police Department and Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office, were assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and the regional FBI Gang Task Force.
