Stores: Some pumps dry, more shipments needed

VALDOSTA — Some South Georgia gas pumps were empty Thursday morning while others continued pumping gas.

A survey along Bemiss Road between 8-10 a.m. Thursday found:

– Walmart, 4228 Bemiss Road: only Premium($2.64) and Diesel($2.69). Clerks not sure when new shipment coming in. Not sure will last through out the day

– Citgo, 4952 Bemiss Road. Completely out, except Diesel($2.72). “We are expecting a shipment in the middle of next week and that may change,” said Sayedur Rahman.

– Moody Air Force Base: Out of gas, operating off of reserve; put in for three trucks, one arrived this morning.

– Flash Foods, 4109 Bemiss Road: Completely out. No shipment on the way and not sure when.

– Flash Foods, 3480 Bemiss Road: Gas available Regular($2.64), Midgrade($2.81), Premium($3.19). “Our corporate team is working diligently to make sure stores are back up and running” said Kathy Owens, store manager. “Refineries continue to shut down and we’ve been told as they get it, they will get it to us.”

In other parts of town,

– Flash Foods, 1720 Gornto Road: Good on gas, reporting no scheduled shipment.

– Flash Foods, 1201 St. Augustine Road: “As of right now, we are standing at 5,000 gallons; we will need another shipment, or by 3 p.m., we will be out,” said Clay Creel, store manager.
