Whitfield County sheriff’s deputy arrested on child molestation charges
DALTON, Ga. — A Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office deputy is the second county employee to be arrested for child molestation in recent days.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, Justin M. Litzenberg, 23, of Brothers Lane in Dalton, was arrested on Thursday at his apartment by Whitfield County deputies and charged with three counts of child molestation, false imprisonment and cruelty to children on a warrant taken out by the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.
Capt. Rick Swiney said the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office would have no further comment on the case. He said the sheriff’s office is cooperating with officials in Bartow County. Litzenberg has been an employee of the sheriff’s office for about two and a half years.
Bartow County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said Thursday the sheriff’s office there had no information to release concerning the arrest.
“I should have some more information in the morning when I talk to the detective in the case,” Rogers said. He said a recent software update prevented him from being able to provide an initial incident report on the investigation or a booking photo of Litzenberg.
Litzenberg was placed on administrative leave without pay, and the press release from Whitfield County said the sheriff’s office will begin an administrative investigation concerning the arrest.
The arrest of Litzenberg comes less than a week after the arrest of Whitfield County firefighter William Taylor White, who was charged with five counts of child molestation and four counts of sexual battery of a child under the age of 16. White was released from jail on Tuesday on a $150,000 bond. He was also placed on leave without pay.
