Sweet Grass awarded for manufacturing excellence
THOMASVILLE — Sweet Grass Dairy, Thomasville’s cheese manufacturing facility, was rewarded for its excellence Tuesday morning.
Jeremy Little, Sweet Grass co-owner, was presented the Faces of Manufacturing award from the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Extension Partnership (GaMEP). Little was one of four award recipients.
“Realistically I’m just fortunate that we have a platform that, I think that they trust,” he said of Sweet Grass employees’ view toward Little’s ideas.
Little also noted he was representing a “group of amazing people” as recipient of the award.
Jessica Little, also a Sweet Grass co-owner, said the recent award is an exciting opportunity for the cheese-making facility, and addressed the company’s goals of moving to a new location and gaining more national recognition as a manufacturer.
“Everybody hears about you guys,” said Thomasville Payroll Development Authority Executive Director Shelley Zorn. “You really have put us on the map.”
Dr. Hank Hobbs, Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute south region manager, presented the award to Little. Hobbs also gave background on the award and GaMEP’s mission of championing manufacturing.
“So yes, this is manufacturing,” Hobbs said of Sweet Grass Dairy.
After the presentation, a tour of the Sweet Grass facility was conducted.
