Long term care group names Moultrian its Nurse of the Year
THOMASVILLE, Ga. — Tammy Gurley of Moultrie was recently awarded Registered Nurse of the Year by the Georgia Association of Nurses in Long Term Care, an organization committed to continuously improving the quality of life of all persons requiring long term and post-acute healthcare.
Out of the 358 long-term care facilities in Georgia, Gurley was selected as Georgia’s Nurse of the Year based on her demonstrated selfless acts of care and compassion spanning a 35-year career in the nursing profession, according to a press release from Archbold Medical Center, for whom Gurley works.
“Tammy possesses a profound expertise in the nursing arena. She is respected and well-liked by all, and is often used as a resource by other nurses and staff members for her wealth of knowledge. She promotes, as well as provides, sympathetic nursing care to all residents and family members. We’re so proud of Tammy for being named Georgia Nurse of the Year,” said Jamie Womack, administrator at Mitchell Convalescent Center.
Gurley, who began her career with Archbold at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home in 1982, now serves as the interim director of nursing at Archbold’s Glenn-Mor Nursing Home in Thomasville, and is the MDS consultant for the system.
“I am so honored to be chosen as Georgia’s Long Term Care Nurse of the Year. Working for Archbold has been nothing short of amazing, and being the recipient of this award shows how much Archbold has influenced my career as a nurse,” expressed Gurley.
