Diamond Dogs sweep Saturday slate

THOMASVILLE — Jaylen Jones drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning, and the Thomasville Bulldogs rallied to beat Leon (Florida) 6-5 Saturday.

Leon’s Riggs Newell singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th.

Thomasville’s rally in the 10th wasn’t their first comeback of the day.

The Bulldogs scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, After Maylon Cochran drew a bases-loaded walk, Jones doubled in two runs. Harrison Stewart’s two-out single brought in Cochran with the tying run.

Jones was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Hurston Waldep also had two hits, including a double, and Nathan Smith added a double.

Jacob Bradshaw got the win, giving up one run while striking out four over four innings. Ben Rawlings threw a scoreless inning of relief. Jones got the start, fanning seven while allowing two earned runs on three hits and four walks.

Paxton Tomaini tossed six scoreless innings for Leon, notching eight strikeouts while giving up just two hits.

In the morning Saturday, Waldrep struck out 11 and allowed one hit in a 7-1 win over Rickards (Florida).

Stewart was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Jacob Bradshaw also drove in two runs.

Jones and Smith each had a double.
