UPDATE: I-10, I-75 back open in Columbia County
LAKE CITY — All lanes of Interstate 75 and Interstate 10 have reopened following a crash Monday afternoon that closed I-10 west and both I-75 north and south.
FDOT inspectors assessed the damaged concrete on the I-10 bridge overpass at I-75 in Columbia County, and installed a containment system on the bridge to ensure that vehicles traveling under the bridge on I-75 will not be damaged by potential falling concrete.
That system allowed the roadways to reopen, according to an FDOT release.
The bridge has been deemed safe for travel by inspectors, although additional inspections and repairs are scheduled in the coming days.
Additional work will be completed Monday night on I-10 westbound once traffic has cleared, although the road will remain open during that time.
The roads closed Monday afternoon following an accident in which a semi trailer was headed west on I-10 when an unknown vehicle cut in front of the truck near the I-75 interchange around 2 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
As the truck’s driver, Treavor Vindaner Hinds, swerved to avoid hitting the other vehicle, a piece of machinery fell off the trailer and rolled down the interstate, causing major damage to the roadway and the overpass. Hinds was not injured in the accident.

I-75 south and I-10 west remain closed, although the Florida Department of Transportation has crews working to try and reopen them Monday night.
