Georgia Day celebrated on February 12
Georgia Day is officially declared as February 12. John B. Gordon Chapter 383 UDC enjoys celebrating this special day. The chapter presents Georgia Day booklets to public, private and home schooled students each year to show their support for educating children about the state of Georgia. The booklet is filled with Georgia history and facts such as naming the state bird (brown thrasher), the state butterfly (tiger swallowtail) and the state fish (largemouth bass)
JBG Chapter 383 also provided a Georgia Day display in the children’s reading area at the Thomas County Public Library. This display will remain up during the month of February. During the chapter’s meeting President Mary Margaret Quiggle presented the members a bag of Georgia Peanuts and a Georgia Historical Trails Booklet. John B. Gordon Chapter 383 encourages everyone to take advantage of touring and visiting as many places in Georgia as possible during the month of February to celebrate this wonderful state.
