GBI continues to look into Grady teen’s death

CAIRO — Law enforcement is still investigating what led to the death of 19-year-old Cameron Wooten earlier this month.

Jamy Steinberg, special agent in charge with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, said investigators are still conducting interviews and waiting for evidence to be tested.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case.

Wooten was found dead inside his parked vehicle off Upper Hawthorne Trail just before 4:30 the morning of May 16.

Sheriff’s deputies were in the area investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle when they found Wooten.

An autopsy was performed the following day at the GBI crime lab in Macon.

Investigators have said Wooten’s death is being treated as a homicide.

Anyone with information regarding the case is urged to call GBI at 229-225-4090 or the Grady County Sheriff’s Office at 229-377-5200.
