Duncan caps THS sweep with perfect game

THOMASVILLE — Gabe Duncan retired all 18 batters he faced and Thomasville completed a two-game sweep of Coosa in the second round of the Class AA state baseball playoffs.

Duncan needed just 61 pitches, striking out seven in six innings as the Bulldogs took Game 2 11-0 via the mercy rule.

Witt Wetherington went 3-for-3 with a homer and drove in two runs. Jacob Jordan was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, and Beck Nicholson went 2-for-4.

Anderson Everett was 2-for-3, Duncan was 2-for-3 with a triple, Carson Fryman had a double and two RBIs and Jace Lowe added a double. The Bulldogs finished with 14 hits. 

Lowe homered and knocked in two runs in an 11-3 Game 1 win over the Eagles. Everett went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs and Nicholson added a double and three RBIs. Fryman went 2-for-4 and Ryan Renfroe drove in two runs.

The Bulldogs (25-4) will face Jeff Davis in the state quarterfinals.
