Train Museum to host open house
TIFTON — The Tifton Train Museum will hold an open house, 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 10.
Frank Crowe, an artist of drawings and paintings of railroad images, will be a guest of the open house.
Crowe has always had an interest in railroads.
He began watching trains at an early age, picking up rail photographs in the late 1970’s and then drawing and painting railroad images.
After completing high school in Albany in 1983, Frank received a scholarship for his railroad water color paintings from the University of Georgia system.
After graduating from UGA with a bachelors in art education, he worked for the Georgia Southwestern Railroad in Americus.
In 1990, as a CSX qualified engineer, Frank moved to Vidalia. He was hired by the Georgia Central Railway as an engineer, operating lines to Macon and Savannah. He is currently a senior designer involved in product development for a carpet producer.
He has photographed trains in the 48 contiguous states and in all but one Canadian Providence.
Two of Frank’s favorite railroad artists are the late Ted Rose and Howard Fogg.
Crowe will have some of his paintings for sale during the open house.
The Tifton Train Museum is located at 120 South Tift Avenue by the railroad tracks.
