Firearms stolen from unlocked vehicles

TIFTON — Firearms are being taken from unlocked vehicles in the Tift area.

According to reports from the Tifton Police Department, there have been two reports of guns being taken recently.

The first incident was reported on Apr. 2 in the 200 block of Zoey Way.

The report states that two handguns, an EAA 357 magnum revolver and a Smith and Wesson SDVE9, were taken from an unlocked vehicle at around 4 a.m. Reviewing surveillance footage showed that the thief went around trying out several vehicle doors and entering other unlocked vehicles as well.

The total value of the items taken was estimated at more than $600.

No other items were reported missing from the other vehicles, according to the report.

The second incident was reported on Apr. 5 in the 200 block of 14th Street E.

According to the report, sometime between noon and 6 p.m. someone stole a Mossberg 500A shotgun and two fishing poles from the unlocked truck.

The total value of the items taken was estimated at almost $700.
