GHSF Daily honors local players with all-state selections
Five local players received all-state football honors, courtesy of the Georgia High School Football Daily.
In Class AAAA, Thomas County Central’s Gabe Harris and Cairo’s Gary Davis earned first-team honors. Harris, a 6-foot-5, 245-pound junior, was named a first-team defensive end and Davis, a 6-foot, 205-pound senior, was named as a first-team linebacker.
Three Thomasville Bulldogs earned first-team honors, with senior Ty Anderson notching his third straight all-state selection. Anderson (6-0, 205) was again honored as an all-state linebacker.
Senior teammates Jimmy Bowdry (6-1, 180) and Joseph Williams (6-1, 175) were named as all-state defensive backs.
Benedictine quarterback Holden Geriner was named Class AAAA offensive player of the year, and Hardaway defensive lineman Mykel Williams was named defensive player of the year. Benedictine’s Danny Britt, who led the Cadets to the Class AAAA state title, was named coach of the year.
In Class AA, Rabun County quarterback Gunner Stockton was named offensive player of the year and Fitzgerald linebacker E.J. Lightsey was named defensive player of the year. Fitzgerald’s Tucker Pruitt earned coach of the year honors.
