911 child molestation confessor sentenced to 15 years in prison
CHATSWORTH, Ga. — A Murray County man who called 911 and admitted to being a child molester was sentenced to 15 years in prison without the possibility of parole by Superior Court Judge William Boyett.
David Eugene Morrison, 50, will also spend the rest of his life on probation, must pay a $2,000 fine and court costs, must perform 150 hours of community service and must register as a sex offender.
Morrison turned himself in by calling Murray County 911 in September of 2016 and admitting to “a gruesome child molestation charge.” He told the 911 operator the decision to turn himself in came down to a choice between making a confession and suicide.
“It was either (calling) or looking at that bottle of pills, and I got tired of looking at them,” Morrison said in the call to 911 which was released by Murray County 911 Director Peggy Vick last year.
According to the indictment, Morrison had molested a boy under the age of 16 for a period of more than four years. He pleaded not guilty in December when the indictment was handed down by the Murray County grand jury, but pleaded guilty before Boyett on May 3.
