TPD chaplains attend training

BYRON — Tifton Police Department (TPD)  chaplains Craig Nalls, Willie Harvey and Ike Branch were three of the 83 law enforcement chaplains from across the state of Georgia who recently  attended the 15th Annual Georgia Association of Law Enforcement Chaplains (GALEC) Training Conference in Byron.

This year the annual training conference was held at the Byron Police Department Training Facilities and included two training modules: basic chaplain training and advanced chaplain training.

GALEC is an organization of Law Enforcement Chaplains who serve and support the Law Enforcement communities of the state of Georgia. “GALEC is designed to enhance the skills and the abilities of the chaplains to help them become more effective in their jurisdictions.” said chaplain Leon Beeler, president of GALEC.

GALEC, in association with the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, provides training and support for those individuals who seek to develop and maintain chaplaincy programs for their respective municipalities.

The training is both P.O.S.T. mandated chaplains training, which provides the basic classes necessary for state chaplains certification, and advanced training, which delivers courses designed to give the chaplains information that will assist them in operating their chaplains programs more knowledgeably and efficiently.
