Former CNA indicted on charges

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — A 54-year-old former certified nursing assistant (CNA) was indicted on criminal charges this week by a Baldwin County grand jury in connection with alleged abuse of an elderly woman at a local nursing home earlier this year.

Dianne Haddock Burton, of the 100 block of Helen Circle, Milledgeville, was indicted on charges of exploitation and intimidation of an elder person and battery, according to court records obtained by The Union-Recorder from Baldwin County Superior Court Chief Deputy Clerk Kimberly Brown.

Burton, who formerly worked as a CNA at Chaplinwood Nursing Home at 385 Allen Memorial Drive in Milledgeville, is accused of hitting an elderly client in the face.

“The victim said the woman who took care of her at nighttime struck her in the face when she was trying to change her clothes,” Baldwin County Sheriff’s Detective Chris Burrell said shortly after he obtained warrants for Burton’s arrested stemming from the alleged incidents at the nursing home. “The CNA was trying to put dirty pants on her.”
