Celebrate Halloween at the Lapham-Patterson House

Get in the “spirit” of Halloween at the Lapham-Patterson House on October 26 from 5:30-10 p.m. Constructed in 1885 at the height of the Victorian spiritualism craze, the house provides the perfect setting to embrace the tricks, treats, and fun of Halloween.

This year we are excited to launch two new Halloween events! The Lapham Porch Party will take place on the front lawn of the Lapham-Patterson House from 5-7 p.m. Guests of all ages are welcome to attend. Eight dollars gets every guest a cup of apple cider, a chance to make a candied apple and paint a mini pumpkin!

The History Center also will host “A Spirited Affair: A Victorian Mystery Escapade.” Participants will complete a series of  Victorian séance themed escape rooms throughout the house. A registration fee of $25 per person grants you access to both the Lapham Porch Party and A Spirited Affair as well as two drink tickets after you have “escaped.” Escape room players must sign up in advance by registering for a start time using our website or contacting the History Center directly. Players will be sorted onto teams of six based on selected start time. Players must be 18 and over to play and must be 21 and over to receive complimentary drink tickets.

Attendees for both events are asked to access the House from the gate on Dawson Street. Parking is available behind the Lapham-Patterson House.

Children also are invited to trick-or-treat at the Thomasville History Center (725 N. Dawson St.) and the Lapham-Patterson House (626 N. Dawson St.) between 5-7:30 p.m. on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31, while candy supplies last. Parking is available behind the House at the intersection of Webster St. and Young St. The neighborhood gets very busy, so please trick-or-treat safely!

The Thomasville History Center was formed in 1952 and opened a museum within the Flowers-Roberts House in 1972. Since 1972, the Thomasville History Center’s collections have grown to include more than 500,000 artifacts and archival materials and eight historic structures. The History Center, in partnership with the state of Georgia, also operates the historic Lapham-Patterson House.

Find the History Center on Instagram and Facebook using @thomasvillehistory to follow daily updates on current programs, research projects, and images from its photographic archives. For more information, please visit www.thomasvillehistory.org, email history@rose.net, or call (229) 226-7664.
