Moultrians’ granddaughter to star in BYUtv original series

MOULTRIE — A Tifton native with Moultrie ties has landed a starring role in an original series by BYUtv.

Caitlin Carmichael, daughter of Tom and Catherine Carmichael of Tifton and granddaughter of Bill and Glenda Bivins of Moultrie, will star as Gretta, a young warrior princess who has been sleeping for a thousand years and wakes up in the 21st century with no understanding of the world around her, according to a story at deadline.com, a website focused on news from the entertainment industry.

“Dwight In Shining Armor” will premiere in 2019, the website reported.

“Sloane Morgan Siegel (Amazon Studio’s ‘Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street’) and Joel McCrary (‘The Princess Diaries 1 & 2’) star in this new series created by LeeAnne H. Adams and Brian J. Adams (Amazon Studio’s ’12 Princesses’) that is currently being filmed in Salt Lake City,” deadline.com said.

“Season one of the 30-minute adventure comedy series takes place in a suburban town where Dwight, a 21st century teen, falls into an ancient, underground chamber and lands lip-to-lip with Gretta, a gothic princess who has been magically sleeping for a thousand years,” the website reported. “Dwight’s ‘kiss’ awakens Gretta, her court magician, Baldric, as well as scores of medieval villains, and makes Dwight her de facto champion until her hordes of enemies are defeated.”

Carmichael, who turns 14 next month, has appeared in a variety of movies and TV shows since her debut in an episode of “In the Motherhood” in 2008. A list of her credits is available at imdb.com.

BYUtv is a cable television network owned by Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. It was founded in 2001 and is now available to 82 million households through Dish Network, DirecTV and more than 800 cable systems in the United States, according to its website, BYUtv.org.
