Marlowe, Thomas playing baseball in Minor League
TIFTON — Tift County’s two Major League Baseball draft picks are settling into their current rosters.
Cade Marlowe, who was picked in the 20th round by the Seattle Mariners, is now a member of the Everett (Wash.) AquaSox. Connor Thomas, who went in the fifth round to the St. Louis Cardinals, wears the uniform of the State College (Pa.) Spikes.
Thomas made his debut for the Spikes June 25, earning the win for the Spikes by pitching two innings in a 13-9 victory over Mahoning Valley. He was scheduled to start on the mound Saturday against Auburn (N.Y.).
Marlowe has smacked a home run in 12 games with Everett. He has driven in four runs and walked five times. The AquaSox are currently in a series against the Tri-City (Wash.) Dust Devils.
Both State College and Everett are short-season Class A teams.
Thomas, a Tift County graduate, was picked out of Georgia Tech. Marlowe is a Tiftarea Academy alumnus. He was playing with the University of West Georgia when he was selected by Seattle.
