Brookwood Warriors explosive in action against Frederica

THOMASVILLE – Brookwood didn’t have much time to put up points Friday in a game shortened by lightning; 16 minutes of game time to be exact.

But that didn’t stop the Warriors from dismantling Frederica Academy 41-12. The Warriors tallied 386 yards, scored on six of seven possessions and provided Brookwood fans a glimpse into what this year’s offense could look like.

“We were certainly excited to score that many points in such a short amount of time. Offensively, we were really explosive. We had 25 plays and seven of them went for 20 yards or more. We had a 92-yarder, a 63-yarder,” said Brookwood coach Shane Boggs.

Brookwood Quarterback Rodge Walker threw for five touchdowns and zero interceptions. He was just one part of a plethora of Warriors who made plays Friday night.

“Rodge was who we thought he could be, would be and should be. T.J. (Thomas) had a phenomenal night. Destin (Moore) has a 92-yarder. Not just on offense, but Grant (Gaston) made plays all over the field on defense. Camden Harbin made tons of plays on defense. I really thought Rex Schofill would have a breakout year. He catches two touchdowns, makes a bunch of tackles, blocked really well,” Boggs said. “There’s just so many guys that showed up and played really well.”

The start to the game was delayed twice by lightning before kickoff. The game did not start until 10 p.m. before being halted midway through the second quarter.

Brookwood will host Wewahitchka (Fla.) next Friday.
