Metcalf named Woman of the Year

Betty Metcalf has been recognized as Woman of the Year at Evergreen Congregational United Church of Christ in Beachton.

The honor was bestowed during the church’s annual Gala Day program at the 11 a.m. worship service on Nov. 20.

A widow, her husband, Jerry Metcalf Sr., passed away earlier this year after an extended illness.

She is a dedicated family member, an ordained elder and member of the church council. According to her church family, she bakes the best pies and bread puddings.

Metcalf has three boys, Jerry Metcalf Jr., Bryan Metcalf, Timothy Metcalf and a daughter, Maria Johnson.
