Suspect charged in Sept. 5 shooting
MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Moultrie man has been arrested as a suspect in connection with a Sept. 5 argument in Northwest Moultrie that escalated into another man being shot.
The Moultrie Police Department identified the alleged shooter as Ben Vicks. He is accused of shooting Prentiss Donaldson during the incident at a 412 Third Ave. N.W. residence.
Donaldson, 28, was visiting friends there when he got into an argument with another man, police said.
“The subject brandished a firearm and shot him in the leg,” police Sgt. Freddie Williams said.
The gunman left after the shooting, which police learned about after Donaldson showed up at Colquitt Regional Medical Center about 6:47 that evening. He was identified later, Williams said.
“We got a tip on him,” he said.
Hicks, 37, 200 Seventh Ave. N.W., has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Prentiss was released from the hospital later on the same night of the shooting.
