Hobbs expresses gratitude for support
THOMASVILLE — A Thomasville man addressing Thomasville City Council Monday night said he has known Mayor Greg Hobbs most of his life.
“I find him to be a man of integrity,” Arthur Jones Jr. told the council.
No one is perfect, and Jesus was the only perfect man to walk the earth, Jones said at the top of the meeting.
“If a man makes a mistake, he deserves a second chance,” he added.
At the end of the meeting, Hobbs thanked Jones for his kind words and thanked others who support him.
Hobbs said he is grateful for support after the comments that have been thrown at him during the last year and a half.
Hobbs was indicted in February on six city-related charges and suspended from the council in April by Gov. Brian Kemp.
A trial on the charges was to begin Jul 29. On July 26, Hobbs entered nolo contendere pleas to two misdemeanors.
He returned to the council in August.
City council members elect a mayor from among council members every two years. Hobbs is in the second year of his second two-year term, which ends in January.
