Art is Hard: VSU seniors show art

VALDOSTA — Ten artists present “Art is Hard,” the spring senior art exhibit, opening Saturday.

The artists will present works in various media including drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, graphic design, etc., according to information provided by the seniors.

“Creating art can be an emotional and psychological drain. It can be difficult to express an idea or meaning without any words,” according to a group artistic statement. “Others may think art is easy and merely a method of escapism from the hardships of society—it is not. ‘Art is Hard’ is meant to challenge the public perception of art as a leisure.”

“Art is Hard” features works by Lamar Benefield, Patrick Hilgert, SaraBeth Hobbs, Carlos Johnson, Erin Quinn, Eliza Reyes, Keith Riley, Zachary Steele, Abigail Trella and Alex Zenzola.

VSU Art regularly presents two senior art shows annually — one to end the fall semester and one to conclude the spring semester.

The exhibits are usually dynamic presentations of the seniors’ best work from their time with VSU Art.
