Cairo drug arrests find over $5k, paraphernalia
CAIRO — A Pelham man remains behind bars at the Grady County Jail after he was found with drug paraphernalia and over $5,000.
On Sunday, a Cairo Police Department officer responded to 13th Street SW and Calvin Drive after a Georgia State Patrol trooper requested assistance, according to an incident report.
Upon arrival, the officer found Antonio Demetrius Holt sitting on the rear of his truck. The GSP trooper completed several field evaluations and placed Holt under arrest for driving under the influence, according to the report.
A search of Holt’s truck uncovered marijuana and a red duffle bag. According to the report, officers found one set of black digital scales in the bag and a black Smith and Wesson .40-caliber pistol.
A Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) check was done on the gun and was found to be reported by the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office as stolen.
An additional set of digital scales was located in the driver’s door and a black bag was located in the rear driver’s side seat.
A total of $5,136 was found in the bag, the incident report stated.
According to reports, Holt was not interviewed at the time of arrest due to intoxication and was interviewed later.
Holt was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and driving under the influence of drugs.
