Man charged with concealing death in connection with body found last month
DALTON, Ga. — The son of a Rocky Face woman who was charged with several crimes in connection with the finding of her girlfriend’s dead body has himself been charged with concealing the death of another.
Kurt Emmett Duckett, 20, of 3767 Freeman Springs, Rocky Face, was charged Thursday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office.
In a press release, Sheriff Scott Chitwood said Kurt Duckett is the son of Amy Duckett, who was charged on May 2 with concealing the death of another, making false statements and hindering law enforcement officers in connection with the disappearance of Christine Medlin.
Amy Duckett had led investigators to the body of Medlin that day. Medlin had been buried in a shallow grave behind a home at 170 Novella Drive near the five points intersection of Beaverdale Road. The body had been wrapped in carpet and white plastic wrap with a tarp lining the grave and covering the body. The women had shared a home nearby.
Medlin, 40, had been reported missing by her mother in March of 2017 after the mother had not heard from her since New Year’s Day.
Both Ducketts are still in jail. In the press release, Chitwood said both Ducketts are cooperating with investigators.
The body wasn’t removed from its wrappings and was sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Whitfield County Coroner Greg Bates said the results of the autopsy are still pending.
