Ashburn man charged with cocaine possession, intent to distribute
TIFTON, Ga. — Two visitors from Ashburn were arrested Saturday after being caught with cocaine, painkillers and other drugs, according to a Tifton Police Department report.
Evelyn Thomas Dawson and Adrian Maurice Stephens, both of Ashburn, were arrested and charged after a traffic stop by Tifton police, the report states.
According to the police report, the officer made a traffic stop because the car was going 16 miles per hour over the speed limit, according to the report.
Once the vehicle was stopped, the officer both smelled and saw marijuana in the vehicle, at which time he called for assistance and conducted a search of the vehicle, the report states.
The search turned up marijuana, at least 14 grams of cocaine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, trazadone and phenazopyridine hydrochloride, according to the report.
Also found in the vehicle were two marijuana grinders, a digital scale, three prescription bottles, a bag containing smaller, empty plastic baggies and a pistol, the report states.
Dawson, who was driving the vehicle, was charged with speeding, misdemeanor drugs not in original container, two counts of purchase, possess or have control of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana (less than one oz.), according to the report.
Stephens was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, purchase, possession, manufacture distribution or sale of marijuana and possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance with intent to distribute, the report states.
