Bulldogs sweep Yellow Jackets

THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville Bulldogs pulled away in the second half, beating crosstown rival Thomas County Central 71-51 before a packed Thomasville High gym Saturday night.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 12-3 while the Yellow Jackets fell to 5-8.

A second-quarter run helped the Bulldogs take a 23-9 lead, and Will Cook’s 3-pointer pushed the advantage to 29-14.

In the girls game, the Lady Bulldogs held off the Lady Yellow Jackets for a 70-44 win, outscoring them 20-9 in the final period.

Aaliyah Powell led the way with 28 points. going 10-of-16 from the free throw line. Powell, Kristina Perry and De’Asia Troutman each had nine rebounds and Dontaevia Johnson added 12 steals.

The Lady Jackets slipped to 3-5 with the loss. The Lady Bulldogs evened their record at 7-7 with the win.

Thomas County Central hosts Pelham on Tuesday, and Thomasville visits Cairo on Tuesday night.
