- The Summer Loyalty Card program was such a hit for downtown businesses and restaurants that Main Street decided to roll out a holiday loyalty card program for residents and visitors.
THOMASVILLE- Due to the popularity of the Summer Loyalty Card, the Office of Downtown and Tourism Development has opted to renew it for the holidays.
The summer loyalty spending card was created to encourage community members and visitors to shop locally, by increasing spending in downtown shops, restaurants and overnight hotel stays in Thomasville.
“The summer loyalty card was a big hit,” said Brandy Avery, Thomasville Main Street Manager. “We brought in $75,400 for the months of June through August and that was just from the cards we had turned in.”
The cards were such a success that Avery decided to do a holiday loyalty card that will run November-December.
For every $20 spent, downtown merchants will sign off on the loyalty card. After spending $200, completed cards can be dropped off at the Thomasville Visitor’s Center.
As patrons turn in their loyalty cards, prizes will be awarded to winners drawn at random. Avery said she has not decided what the grand prize will be for the holiday loyalty card, but she promises it will be one that can be enjoyed by all.
“The holiday loyalty cards are an opportunity for locals and visitors to enjoy everything that Thomasville has to offer and be rewarded for doing so,” she said.
Director of Tourism Development, Bonnie Hayes agreed.
“As Tourism Director, it is my goal to make sure that we are continuously thinking of ways to encourage people to come and visit Thomasville,” she said. “The main idea of the loyalty card is for people to
think of Thomasville and visit the downtown independent shops and restaurants.”
Cards will not become available until November.
Once available, they can be picked up from the Thomasville Visitor’s Center, located at 144 E. Jackson Street or in local downtown shops and restaurants. For more information on holiday loyalty cards, visit Thomasvillega.com or call 229-228-7977.
