CAIRO — A Grady County woman is behind bars after she admitted to shooting her husband over the weekend.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call Sunday evening to a residence on the 200 block of Lake Douglas Road after Crystal Sunshyn Jackson, 41, said she had shot her husband. The shooting was not fatal.
According to law enforcement, Jackson shot her husband with a .22 caliber handgun after an argument erupted over his infidelity.
The victim was flown by helicopter to a trauma center in Tallahassee where he successfully underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen. The injuries he sustained were life-threatening.
“He had internal bleeding that had it not been immediately attended he could have easily died,” said Lt. Jake Bush, Grady County Sheriff’s Office.
A search warrant was later executed at the residence and law enforcement collected a Walther P22 semiautomatic pistol.
Jackson has been charged with aggravated assault and was booked into the Grady County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
The case is currently being handled by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
