THOMASVILLE — The deadline to register to vote in the June primary election is a few days away. Monday, May 11, is the last day to register to vote in the June 9 non-partisan general primary. Voter registration is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Thomas County Elections & Registration Office, 1402 E. Jackson St.
The Georgia Secretary of State office mailed absentee ballot applications to 6.9 million active Georgia voters. There are about 31,000 active voters in Thomas County, said elections supervisor Frank Scoggins.
For anyone who did not vote in the presidential preference primary in March, the election will appear on the absentee ballot, along with the June ballot.
Early voting begins Monday, May 18, at the elections office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early voting also will take place on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thomas County constitutional offices up for re-election will appear on the June ballot. Offices include county commission, sheriff, clerk of court, coroner and tax commissioner. State Senate and House and federal races also will appear on the ballot.
Voters will select Republican or Democratic ballots or a non-partisan ballot in June. Non-partisan offices also will appear on the political party ballots.
“If you choose a non-partisan ballot, that is all the voter will get,” Scoggins said.
All races will appear on one ballot in the November general election.
Scoggins said it is preferred those casting ballots in May and June wear masks.
