Auditions will be held Tuesday, August 6, and Thursday, August 8, and students need to schedule an audition slot at troupe@rose.net or (229) 558-9470.

The non-profit group seeks a diverse membership, boasting members who hail from public, private and even home school settings, those who have extensive performing arts experience and those who are newcomers to music, dance and theatre. Troupe members not only live in Thomas County, but recent student performers have also hailed from Grady, Mitchell, Decatur, Brooks and Colquitt counties, among others.

Founded by Fred and Winnie Allen In 1972, the Thomasville Music & Drama Troupe has performed for audiences from 50 to 50,000, including two performances at the White House.

The Troupe program complements weekly training in music, group choreography and song interpretation with important life lessons like self-discipline, composure before an audience and hard work toward a team goal. The group showcases the results of its work in two annual community performances, a holiday-themed show in December and their annual Spring show each May, a south Georgia tradition since 1974.
