THOMASVILLE — Two Thomasville City schools entered code yellow lockdowns early Wednesday afternoon.

Scott Elementary and MacIntyre Park Middle schools went into lockdown when police received a call about a woman with a knife on nearby Washington Street.

“She was hitting herself over the head with it,” Thomasville Police Department Maj. Shane Harris said.

School resource officer Jabar Dunbar put the schools into code yellow lockdown, a “soft” lockdown, and exterior school doors were locked.

Police responded to the scene on Washington, but the woman was gone.

“She had returned to her home,” Harris said.

The lockdowns were lifted.
