Police chief addresses Rotary

THOMASVILLE —Thomasville Police Chief Troy Rich addressed the Thomasville Rotary Club on Thursday.

Rich’s message centered around community-oriented policing, a method of policing he adopted for Thomasville Police Department.

Rich, police chief for six years, will retire Oct. 5. The New Jersey native joined TPD 30 years ago.

The chief was introduced by Lucinda Brown, president of the Thomas County chapter of the NAACP. Brown praised Rich’s decades of service and the community-printed policing concept TPD practices.

Fran Milberg, past Rotary district president, presented Rich with a Paul Harris Fellowship designation, the highest award a local Rotary club can bestow.
