Grady commissioners to take the temperature before meeting

CAIRO — Tuesday morning’s meeting of the Grady County Board of Commissioners will take some extra precautions in light of concerns over the spread of COVID-19.
All attendees at the 9 a.m. meeting will have their temperatures taken before setting foot inside the Grady County courthouse.
The meeting will not immediately adjourn once regularly scheduled business had concluded. Instead, the commissioners will recess until 11 a.m., when Governor Brian Kemp is scheduled to speak with county officials in a conference call.
Commission chair Keith Moye said the meeting will be adjourned at the conclusion of the conference call to allow the commissioners to take action if needed.
“If there’s something we need to handle from that conference call, we will,” Moye said.
County Administrator Buddy Johnson has stated that he wants the meeting to conclude quickly.
The meeting’s agenda will cover material the commissioners were originally going to tackle March 17 before that meeting was scratched, but will not include any scheduled presentations. Aside from an executive session, the abridged agenda will only cover consent items and formal actions. Residents can attend the meeting, though there will be no public comment period.
In an effort to reduce attendance at the meeting, Johnson said the county will provide a recording of the meeting free of charge to any citizens interested in county business.
