The suspect also is charged with two counts of cruelty to children, because two children under 10 were at the woman’s and victim’s 304 W. Webster St. residence when the shooting occurred.

“This is a domestic dispute between boyfriend and girlfriend,” said Lt. Toby Knifer, Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division commander.

At first, Knifer said, the victim was uncooperative about how he was shot in the lower back.

Based on the crime scene investigation, detectives determined Brunner shot the victim and that the incident occurred inside the couple’s government housing apartment, Knifer said.

The commander said the couple’s argument about domestic issues escalated to violence.

The caliber of firearm used in the shooting has not been determined.

The victim is in stable condition at Archbold Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery immediately after the shooting.
