THOMASVILLE — The Georgia State Patrol has determined parts left behind by a vehicle that struck a pedestrian Feb. 9 were from a Dodge product.
“Other than that, they have no leads in this investigation,” said Sgt. 1st Class John VanLandingham, Thomasville Post 12 GSP commander.
Based on vehicle parts recovered, the vehicle that struck Wallace Guynn is believed to be a truck or SUV, the commander said.
Guynn ran out of gasoline on Ga. 122 near the fairgrounds, walked to a service station, purchased gasoline and was walking back to his vehicle about 11 p.m. when he was struck the first time.
The driver of a second vehicle struck Guynn’s body remained at the scene and notified authorities. Troopers said debris found at the scene shows the second vehicle was not the one that struck Guynn the first time.
Troopers have viewed surveillance videos from several business in the area, with the exception of one that has not been released.
“They’ve looked at a lot of video,” VanLandingham said.
The GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.
VanLandingham asks that anyone with information about the incident call Post 12 at (229) 227-2490.
