THOMASVILLE — A multi-county high speed chase that ended in Grady County on Thursday has put a woman in jail for auto theft.
Brianna Buehler faces charges of reckless driving, speeding, fleeing and attempting to elude and driving without a license following Thursday’s chase that topped 100 mph.
About 1 p.m. Thursday, a Thomasville Police officer had her license plate recognition system alert her about a possible stolen vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a red Jeep with California tags, initially slowed down and pulled into an Old Albany Road parking lot, according to TPD reports, before speeding off.
TPD officers were alerted that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Gadsden County in Florida. While on Old Albany Road, the vehicle was said to be going at a high rate of speed, exceeding 90 mph. The speed limit on that stretch of road is 45 mph.
As the Jeep went through the intersection of Old Albany Road and the Highway 84 bypass, it nearly went airborne, according to police reports.
Eventually, a Georgia Motor Carrier Compliance officer joined the chase and took over. The pursuit reached more than 100 mph, according to reports.
Buehler continued on Highway 3 into and out of Ochlocknee and eventually into Meigs, before heading west on Highway 111.
The pursuit reached Grady County, and Grady County Sheriff’s deputies made intentional contact with the Jeep to render it immobile.
Buehler got out of the Jeep and was placed into custody. She was taken to the Thomas County Jail and a Ahold was then placed on her for additional charges from Thomasville Police Criminal Investigation Division.
