Chamber of Commerce accepting nominations for 2017 awards

The Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce officials seek to recognize member businesses and/or individuals that have made a significant impact in the community over the past year. These awards will be based upon contributions to the community, business performance, innovative practices, growth of programs and the organization, volunteer contributions to the chamber and leadership.

Nominations should be made based on criteria listed under each category. There will only be five final nominees per award and only complete nomination forms will be reviewed. Winners will be voted on by the chamber membership during September and recognized at the Chamber Awards Banquet and Annual Meeting on Thursday, Nov. 2. Recognized businesses must be current members of the chamber in good standing.

Small Business of the Year

• Business with 20 or fewer employees in Thomasville-Thomas County

• Growth through revenue and creation of jobs

• Innovative products and services

• Volunteerism of employee base

• Demonstrates economic support of the Thomasville-Thomas County area business community

Large Business of the Year

• Business with more than 20 employees in Thomasville-Thomas County

• Growth through revenue and creation of jobs

• Innovative products and services

• Volunteerism of employee base

• Demonstrates economic support of the area business community

Non-Profit Organization of the Year

• 501(c) recognized organization serving the Thomas County area demonstrating effective fundraising and resource development.

• Shows exemplary support to the community while adhering to the non-profit’s mission.

Professional of the Year

• Service and involvement in the chamber and the community

• Initiative in seeking and fulfilling leadership roles throughout the community

• Professionalism in their field of work

• Vision and passion to mentor and lead others

The Legacy Award

• Service and involvement in the Chamber and the community

• Recognizes staying power, longevity and the ability to adjust to the changing economic climate

• Must be in business for at least 25 consecutive years

• Must have been a chamber member for 5 consecutive years

Nomination applications can be submitted on the chamber’s website at www.thomasvillechamber.com/2017ChamberAwards. Nominations must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31.
