When officers approached the area, a man ran, said Louis Schofill, Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division commander.

“They actually thought it was the man they were looking for,” Schofill said.

Boston officers chased the man on foot. As the suspect started to jump over a fence, pulled out a pistol and threw it over the fence, Schofill said

The man, Markeith Fontre Graham, 36, 905 Shady Lane, Monticello, Florida, was taken into custody.

Schofill said Graham was found to have 17 ecstasy pills, two hydrocodone pills, marijuana and five bags of cocaine.

“He also had a digital scale, and the pistol he threw over the fence was stolen out of Tallahassee,” the narcotics commander said.

When Graham arrived at the Thomas County Jail, it was discovered he had a number of felony warrants in Florida.

Florida warrants are for armed burglary of a residence during a state of emergency, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, 11 counts of grand theft of a firearm, grand theft, grand theft of a motor vehicle, burglary and forgery.

Thomas County charges include possession of a Schedule I substance, possession of a Schedule II substance, marijuana possession, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, obstruction by fleeing and forgery.

Schofill said the forgery charge is in connection with a $100 counterfeit bill found on Graham when the was searched.

“Boston PD did a great job,” Schofill said. “We have a great working relationship with them.”
